Ride/Race Reports
MBRT had a pretty good showing over the weekend. We were well-represented at Cat's Hill, Panoche RR, and the Salinas Valley Criterium. Andrew Heinemann lost his mind and had fun off the front for several laps of the Salinas Crit. Don't be too hard on yourself Andrew. We've all done it. I know I could have raced Cat's Hill smarter...and Wente...and last year at Watsonville... Big congratulations to MBRT's newest rider--Michael O'Neil--for his solo win on the hilly, wind-swept Panoche Road Race. Nice work, Mike!
Upcoming Rides/Races
TNPR - The Tuesday Night Practice Race meets at the top of CCCX circuit course at 6pm for five laps of fun. This is a great place to work on your fitness in a simulated race. For best results, spend a good hour on your warm-up.
Hellyer Velodrome - Wednesday. There's no better place to work on your sprint. The Friday Night race series starts up soon.
Thursday Mountain Bike Ride - A number of MBRT riders have been riding the Fort Ord trails on a regular basis. It would be great to establish a regular ride on Thursdays. MBRT may soon acquire a Right Of Entry permit for use of all of the trails (right now riding is restricted to BLM lands).
Are you a sprinter? Do you prefer a fast, flat course? Can you rally two or three others guys in your category and convince them to lead you out? Definitely consider one of this weekend's two criteriums. First is the Red Kite Criterium - Saturday in Livermore. This looks like a fun series but I have not had a chance to get up there. I know Evan Rossow won one a while back. Next, Clovis Criterium - Sunday...in Clovis. 1/2 mi 4-corner nascar crit.
Berkeley Hills Road Race - Even with the 7:43am start time I may do this race. Yikes, I just did the math and that's a 4:55am departure from Monterey. Who wants to carpool? It will be good training and an opportunity to size up the competition for the district championship Mt Hamilton RR on May 26th.
If you do not plan on racing this weekend be sure to wear MBRT colors on the SMR and Sunday Ride(TBD). Or just go for a leisurely bike ride. No matter what, have fun.

Downtown Salinas Criterium June 22. This is our race. Mark your calendars! It's going to be great. We're going to need your help. Stay tuned.
